Bengaluru: After having its lone MP candidate Prajwal Revanna being disqualified by the Karnataka High Court on Friday, the JDS party is facing yet another trouble. After declaring Prajwal Revanna disqualified as Hassan JDS MP, the court has now served notice to Prajwal Revanna’s father and Holenarasipur MLA H D Revanna and Prajwal’s brother and MLC Suraj Revanna for election-related irregularities. The court observed that both Revanna and Suraj Revanna helped Prajwal Revanna to win the Lok Sabha election and their complicity in his false affidavit is also accountable. Taking note of this, the court has now issued notice under the People’s Representation act.
It is said that Prajwal Revanna gave a false affidavit with regard to his assets to the Election Commission. It is said that Prajwal Revanna had not mentioned about his shares and ownership in a firm; Prajwal had submitted IT papers of 2018-19 period and had hid several assets and money from declaring in the affidavit; he has wrongly submitted details of his movable and immovable properties; his bank balance in his submission to election commission showed Rs 5.78 lakh as on March 22, 2109 but in reality it was Rs 49.09 lakh among others.
Now JDS MLA A Manju, who was defeated by Prajwal Revanna during the Lok Sabha elections had filed a petition along with Devaraje Gowda, an advocate seeking Prajwal Revanna’s disqualification.
Speaking to mediapersons, JDS MLA Manju said that in the changed circumstance, he is in JDS. “JDS supremo and former prime minister H D Deve Gowda had not laid down any conditions for me while joining the party. I had sought justice and got it. This is a warning to all who give false affidavits. I respect the court order,” JDS MLA Manju said.
JDS MLA Revanna is consulting with party seniors and advocates to file an appeal in the court now.
