Hubballi: The twin cities – Hubballi and Dharwad – have been decked up from end to end to host the National Youth Festival which will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, later in the day.
The festival being organised to mark the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, will be held in the twin cities till January 16. This is the first time that such a festival is being held in North Karnataka.
As many as 7,500 youths from across the country have landed in the twin cities to showcase their talent. There will be student delegates who will engage and exchange ideas on various youth-centric issues in the five day festival. The district administration has made all efforts to livestream many of the programmes.
Interestingly, the festival is being celebrated as Green Youth Festival where only reusable cutlery will be served.
Besides, to emphasise the importance of millets, several stalls have been put up to serve delicacies made of millets. It may be recalled here that the UN has declared 2023 as the International Year of Millets. Organisers have also planned a Yogathon where 5 lakh people are expected to take part in the event.
