20 acres of sugarcane gutted in fire at T Narasipur; losses estimated at Rs 50 lakh

Mysuru: Sugarcane crop worth Rs 50 lakh was gutted in fire mishap at Kurubalahundi village in T Narasipur taluk in the district, leaving the farmers in distraught.
The crop in 20 acres of land is suspected to have caught fire due to short circuit.
Seven acres each of the affected land belongs to Subramanya and Naga respectively.
As the raging fire engulfed the neighbouring lands, the labourers involved in harvesting the crop had a miraculous escape.
The crop was reduced to ashes in no time. Two fire tenders were pressed into service to extinguish the fire.
