Na Rathna selected for ‘Dasara Theatre Award- 2022’

Mysuru: Veteran theatre person Na Rathna has been selected for this year’s ‘Dasara Theatre Honour’.

The award was instituted by Rangayana the State’s first theatre repertory in Mysuru in the year 2021.

It will be conferred on Rathna during the valedictory of Dasara Theatre Festival on October 4, according to Rangayana Director Addanda C Cariyappa. 

Natesh Rathna who is popularly known as Na Rathna among the theatre lovers was born in Chidambaram in Tamil Nadu, but studied in Mysuru. Being a professional speech and hearing expert, Rathna has had a passion for theatre which was unparalleled, as he acted and directed several plays.

Rathna did his BA and BEd in Maharaja’s College, Mysuru, did his higher studies abroad, where he got his PG in speech and hearing science.   

With Samathentho a theatre troupe of amateur artistes, Rathna who got involved in theatre activities has written plays like- Ellige, Bonthe, Gode Beke Gode.

Rathna is a recipient of Karnataka Nataka Academy Award, M N Roy Award, B V Karanth Award, Hellen Keller Award to name a few.
