Three poachers held in Nagarahole forest

Mysuru: Three poachers have been arrested in Nagarahole forest on the night of August 19. Two of their accomplices have escaped in the thick of darkness in the forest.
Khalid, 58, Shanu, 39 and Iyad, 23, all from Ambatti village in Virajpet, Kodagu are the arrested persons. The absconders are- Muneer and Iyad from Hebbale in Kodagu.
Two guns, eight live cartridges, one empty cartridge, one each of hatchet, knife, cotton cover, head torch, two plastic cover, three cell phones, four empty cement bags and maruti omni van are seized from them.
They are habitual offenders and were planning to kill animal for the meat.
They were nabbed at Devamachi section in Anechowkur wildlife range.
They were arrested under the guidance of director of Nagarahole national park Narayanaswami and ACF Prasanna Kumar of Hunsur wildlife division.
The field officers included RFO Shivanand Ningani, DRFOs Shivaprasad, Yogeshwari Desai, Satish, Shivalingaiah, Shashi, Gowda, Sudeep, Naresh, Baba Fareed and Umashankar and forest guard Shivaiah.
A case has been registered under wildlife protection Act 1972.
