Davangere: Former chief minister B S Yediyurappa on Tuesday alleged that ‘Muslim leader Altaf Halloor is directly responsible for instigating the community brethren that led to violent incidents in Hubli recently”.

However Halloor while speaking to a vernacular news channel has denied the charges.

Yediyurappa told media persons “thousands of Muslim brethren gathered on that day. It is established that Muslim leader Altaf Halloor is responsible for the incident”.

A Police Inspector by name Kadedevaramutt suffered severe head injuries in the incident. The police officer is being treated at a hospital.

On the demand of Congress leaders not to arrest any innocents in the case, Yediyurappa said ” The Congress leaders have to look into the ground reality”.

It may be mentioned that, following a provocative WhatsApp status by a Bajrang Dal activist named Hiremath, Muslim brethren gathered in large numbers outside Old Hubballi police station.

They later attacked the station and vehicles with stones resulting in severe injuries to various police personnel.
