Mysuru: Mysureans are closely attached with rich traditions, which is practiced till date.
Yogasana is one such tradition that has come in handy, yet again, to fight the evil in the form of Covid-19 pandemic. Apart from medicines, Yogasana is also taught at Covid Care Centres (CCC) to help the inmates recover soon.

What about Yoga teachers? They are also equally willing and are teaching the inmates of care centres, with all precautions, by wearing personal protection equipment (PPE) kit.
Two yoga teachers in the City have dared to take the risk and teaching the inmates at the Covid Care Centre in Mandakalli for the past couple of days every morning hours.
Amith Shankar from Gandhinagar and Manjunath Kulawadi teach nearly 15 asanas daily at this CCC.

The asanas are as follows- Tadasana, Hasta padasana, Arda chakrasana, Trikonasana, Dandasana, Pashchimotasana, Badda konasana, Vajrasana, Ushtrasana
Shashankasana, Yoga mudra, Pranayama
Kapalabhati, Bastrika, Nadi shodana, Bhramari and Dhyana (meditation).
Amith Shankar told Mysoorunews.com
“Teaching yoga is my passion, but this is a new experience. By wearing PPE we can’t do all the asanas with ease. Hence, I have tried all the needfull asanas for the benefit of Covid patients to improve their health condition.”

“I feel everyone should adopt yoga in their daily life so that their immunity power will increase and can stay away from these kind of diseases,” Amith opined pointing at Novel Coronavirus.
Online yoga teaching is also initiated at care centres with Yoga teachers like Naganandini, Anand, Ravikumar and Subhash Bharadhwaj involved in it.

International Day of Yoga is slated on June 21. Unlike initial years, mammoth sessions involving the enthusiasts on a large scale have been suspended due to prevailing Covid crises from the last year. It was the time the country started to feel the heat of virus in the first wave.
Mysuru is known as a Yoga hub in Asia continent and more as Ashtanga Yoga Capital.
Keeping the tradition alive with passion, Yoga teachers here have been involved in helping the people get rid of fears over virus and strengthen them with innate energy.
