Mysuru: Hundreds of women workers of the Congress party have launched a post card campaign to demand central election commission to resume ballot papers in the elections against using electronic voting machines ( EVM).
The workers led by Karnataka Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee president Dr Pushpa Amarnath on Tuesday intensified the campaign by dropping the cards at the post office outside Mysuru City Corporation office on New Sayyaji Rao road in the city.
They condemned the decision of the election commission to continue with EVMs considered as anti-people in the democratic system. Constitution is considered as the foundation of democracy and the election commission is a part of it. There is no mention of EVM in the Commission.
The post cards are addressed to the President of India Ramnath Kovind.
Former MLA M K Somashekar, Mysuru City and district Congress Committee president R Muthy and rural president B J Vijaykumar supported the women workers in their campaign.
In- charge president of women’s wing Latha Mohan, ruling party leader in MCC Shanthakumari, former mayors Modamani and Pushpalatha Chikkanna also took part in the campaign.
