Mysuru: Preparations have been all made for Mysuru Dasara festivities that will commence from Saturday ( October 17). However the thrust is on making people watch the festivities virtually online rather than making their physical presence in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic.

Dasara cultural programmes at Palace will start from October 17 and will be held till October 24.
Everyday for two hours cultural programmes will be staged on a specially designed dais with the embossing of caparisoned elephants in golden colour for the backdrop.
The portraits of erstwhile maharajas of Mysuru Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar and Jayachamaraja Wadiyar also adorn the backdrop.
District minister S T Somashekar inspects arrangements at Chamundi Hill.
On Friday Cooperation and district incharge minister S T Somashekar inspected the arrangements at Palace and Chamundi Hill where the finishing touches are being given for the preparations.
Somashekar told media persons that “as per expert guidelines we are celebrating Dasara complying with Covid safety norms. All the invitees will be subjected to Covid test before entering the Palace. We have taken all the preacatuonary measures to ensure safe Dasara for all”.
“I have already visited Chamundi hill and inspected the inauguration venue and safety steps in place”, said Somashekar.
Mysuru Palace Board Deputy Director T S Subramanya said that “this time due to pandemic we have limited only 50 people including performers for cultural programmes. It will be for only two hours duration and majorly palacel illumination is also restricted to two hours. All the events can be watched online”, he added.

Earlier Somashekar, MLAs SA Ramadass and L Nagendra and MUDA Chairman H V Rajiv visited Dasara elephants shelter and fed sugarcane to elephants Abhimanyu, Vijaya, Kaveri, Vikrama and Gopi.
