MLA Narendra distributes food kits to 1,200 tribals in 10 hamlets

Chamarajanagar: Hanur MLA R Narendra distributed food kits to 1,200 tribal families in 10 hamlets on Tuesday.

The tribal hamlets coming under Lokkanahalli ZP constituency include- Nelli Katthari, Karidimba, Gombegallu, Attikhane, Koulihalla, dam, Sebina Koobe and Jadeswamy Doddi.

Narendra said, “There are a large number of tribals and other economically weaker sections. There are about 4,250 tribal households and also Nayana Kshatriya community who are unable to open their shops. I have been helping them from my pocket with food kits from the past five days. The government has also given two kg rice to each families”.

Recently, when S Suresh Kumar the district incharge minister came to the district, it was initiated to distribute rice stocked for dasoha (mass feeding) at MM Hills temple for the needy tribals. Accordingly, five kg of rice was distributed to each of about 7,000 families. Tibetans too are helping them and have helped 700 families. A total of 14,000 families are benefitted, said Narendra.

Apart from this, DCC bank has sponsored 4,500 sanitisers, masks and soaps to government hospitals doctors, nurses, police, fire and revenue department personnel and also journalists, said Narendra.

A target of distributing 10,000 masks from MM Hills Temple Authority has been set and 2,000 masks have been distributed already, he added.

Besides, awareness is being created on cleanliness, hand wash, sanitising and other measures among tribals. Hence zero cases of Covid-19 are reported in the district, claimed Narendra.
