87th All India Kannada Sahitya Sammelan will create history: Minister Chaluvarayaswamy

Mandya: The 87th All India Kannada Sahitya Sammelana, being held in Mandya for the third time, will create history.

Mandya is fully prepared for the Sahitya Sammelana from December 20 to 22, which is witnessing many innovations, said N Chaluvarayaswamy, Minister of Agriculture and Mandya District Incharge and Chairman of the Reception Committee of the Sammelana.

He spoke at a press conference after inspecting the preparatory work for the stages being constructed behind the city’s Sanjo Hospital and Amaravati Hotel.

The main stage, two parallel stages, and a parking area of ​​60 acres have been arranged in an area of ​​70-80 acres. 55 exhibition stalls, 350 commercial stalls and 450 book stalls have also come up. 100 counters for food and 40 counters for registered delegates have been opened, and there will be a single food menu for everyone, he said.

Cleanliness has been given top priority. The quality of food is tested and a report is obtained. Water is also tested. 250 staff have been appointed for cleanliness. Toilets have been built at more than 150 different locations.

He said that 6,000 registered delegates will be provided with accommodation and conference kits in leather bags containing half a kg of jaggery, half a kg of sugar, toothbrush, paste, soap, bed sheets.

Arrangements have been made to run 150 free buses from 7 taluk centers to reach the conference. In addition, buses from Mandya city will also bring people to the conference venue for free. Parking arrangements have been made at three places. Free transportation has also been arranged from the parking lot. A special bus will run every 30 minutes from Mysuru to Bengaluru, he said.

The conference president, Go Ru Channabasappa, will arrive in Mandya on Thursday evening and will be received. The flag hoisting ceremony will be held at 6 am on Friday, December 20. The conference president’s procession will begin at 7 am.

The procession will include daytime costumes, women’s heroic dance, Goravara Kunita, Kamsale, Karaga, Suggi Kunita, Kolata, and 300 women carrying Poorna Kumbha and more than 50 art groups.

The procession will be flagged off by Pramoda Devi, a royal descendant of the Mysore Palace.

Three platforms are being constructed. 11 sessions, including a interaction with the conference president, have been organized on the main platform, and 20 sessions have been organised at 2 parallel platforms. Cultural programmes have been organized in the evening as part of the conference, he said.

Programmes by local artists will be held at the Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar Kalamandir, Ambedkar Bhavan, Parallel Stage and the main stage. The main stage programme is organised under the name “Nudi Jatreya Swara Yatra”.

On the first day on December 20, a musical evening programme will be held by Sadhu Kokila and Rajesh Krishnan troupe.

On December 21, a musical evening programme will be held by Arjun Janya and troupe.

Cescom is decorating the city with illumination. 170 achievers who have served the vernacular are being honoured. 87 books will be released to commemorate the 87th All India Kannada Sahitya Sammelana.

He said that a commemorative issue named “Belladarathi” will also be released.

Speaking at the event, Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Nadoja Mahesh Joshi said that the district administration should be congratulated for making full use of technology to prepare for this conference.

At the conference, the conference chairman, Go Ru Channabasappa’s translation from English to Kannada titled “Political Violence in Ancient India” and the novel “Sharapanjara” by renowned novelist Triveni, translated from Kannada to Italian, will be released at the conference.

Free bus transportation facility

Free transportation arrangements have been made for those coming to the literary conference from various parts of the district, said N Chaluvarayaswamy, Minister in-charge of Agriculture and Mandya District and Chairman of the reception committee of the conference.

KSRTC has arranged buses in sufficient numbers for the literary enthusiasts and the general public arriving for the conference.

A total of 105 special vehicles, including 15 special vehiclesin the city, have been arranged for the three-day conference in 7 taluk centers.

He said that one special bus facility has been provided every 30 minutes from Mysuru and Bengaluru.

Free transport facility of 15 vehicles has been provided to bring people from various places in Mandya city to the conference venue.

First, the conference venue will be reached from Mandya Bus Stand via Railway Station, Nanda Circle, Factory Circle, Swarnasandra, Mandavya College, Ummadahalli Gate, Hosaboodanur.

Secondly, from Mandya Bus Stand, the route will be via Court Stand- University- Kallahalli- V V Nagar- Shaneshwara Temple- Chamundeshwari Temple- Kannika Parameshwari Temple- Karnataka Bar Circle- Hosahalli Circle- B Ramanna Circle- MVG Bakery- Nanda Circle- Factory Circle- Swarnasandra- Madavya College- Ummadahalli Gate- Hosaboodanur to reach the conference venue.

The third route will be via Hunasemara-Kalikamba Temple-Nanda Circle-Factory Circle-Gutthalu Colony-Jayalakshmi Talkies-Arakeshwara Temple-Ummadahalli Gate-Hosaboodanur to reach the conference venue.

The minister explained that the fourth route will be from Satva parking lot to the conference venue via Ummadahalli Gate-Hosaboodanur and the return will be via the same route.
