53 new cases, emergence of virus in CM’s fiefdom Shivamogga put officials on tenterhooks

Bengaluru: A whopping 53 cases of Coronavirus were reported in the state on Sunday. With this, a total of 847 cases have been reported in the state alone.

A highest of 22 cases were reported from Belagavi, followed by eight cases in Shivamogga and Bagalkot, seven in Uttara Kannada, three each in Bengaluru and Kalaburagi, one in each of Chikkaballapur and Davangere districts. While Belagavi has reached the second spot after Bengaluru in the number of cases, Shivamogga has for the first time recorded the cases.

Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa’s fiefdom that was in the green zone till yesterday for the zero cases reported ever since the cases started to emerge in the  state two months ago in March, has put the officials on tenterhooks.

The people who had gone to Gujarat had been put under quarantine after returning to the district. When the results of samples of throat swabs came out, they had been tested positive the virus.
