500 million people covered under Ayushman Bharat: Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy

Bengaluru: Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, H D Kumaraswamy, stated that a major revolution has taken place in building a healthy India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He delivered convocation speech at the graduation ceremony of the 14th batch (2023) of Rajarajeswari Medical College.

India has witnessed a transformative change in the healthcare sector over the past ten years. Quality healthcare services are now available to the common man at very affordable rates. The Union Minister attributed this to the Prime Minister’s social concern and visionary approach.

“Under Narendra Modi’s leadership, the healthcare system in our country has grown strong, serving as a backbone for economic and social development. Every citizen now has access to high-quality medical services”, he emphasized.
“In the past decade, numerous reforms have been introduced in the healthcare sector, including the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which is the largest healthcare program in the world, covering 500 million people. Additionally, several other unique programs have been implemented by the Modi government, such as the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, PM Atmanirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana, Digital Health Mission, Mission Indradhanush, and the establishment of Jan Aushadhi centers”, the minister highlighted.

“The medical field is of paramount importance and highly esteemed, as doctors not only safeguard an individual’s health but the health of the entire nation”. The minister encouraged all those graduating today to serve society as responsible and compassionate doctors in the future.
Dr A C Shanmugam, founder and chancellor of Rajarajeswari Medical College, Arun Kumar, the college president, Dr Sathyamoorthy, the dean and Dr S Vijayanand, the executive director were present.

The Union Minister also distributed graduation certificates to the students and conveyed his best wishes.
