3.8 lakh Covid vaccinations given in Mysuru: DC Rohini Sindhuri

Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner Rohini V Sindhuri on Saturday elaborated on various plans of the district administration to make Mysuru both as a tourist destination along with a healthy city.

Interacting with media persons at Mysore District Journalists Associationin the city, deputy commissioner said “Mysuru is a rich heritage hub and we are working towards incorporating a new model in tourism on the lines of Kochi Biennale in Kerala. It was planned during Dasara festival, but the situation over Covid-19 pandemic played a spoilsport.”

To further boost tourism, we also coordinated with the union finance ministry to organise Adima Mahothsava during Dasara. Besides, we are also looking to organise mega tribal programme to generate jobs at Hunsur.

National Science Center and Planetarium is also planned in Mysuru to attract more number of tourists. It is expected to come up in 22 acres land near Chamundi Hill.

Covid situation is back to its peak stage like the corresponding period in the previous year. We are currently focusing on only testing and vaccination. Our steps are progressive and we have planned to take constructive awareness against vaccination hesitancy in North Mysuru, Rohini Sindhuri claimed.

After Bengaluru Mysuru has reported highest positivity rate and death rate. First in nation, 40 private hospitals in Mysuru are also providing vaccination. We have covered nearly 3.8 lakh vaccinations, she said.

District administration has slightly shifted its focus towards handling Covid. We are confident of managing the situation as per the norms of Central and state governments, Rohini stated.

MDJA President S T Ravikumar, Vice- president Anurag Basavaraj, General Secretary Subramanya and Secretary (City) Rangaswamy were present.
