202 open heart surgeries performed at Jayadeva Hospital

Mysuru: Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research Director Dr C N Manjunath has said ‘ever since the hospital was opened in the city, 202 open heart surgeries have been performed here’.

He was speaking during the continuous medical education programme organised for the doctors in association with Zydus organisation, on Sunday.

The hospital has been receiving a good response with 40 angioplasty procedures being conducted daily, he said.

On the possibilities of cardiac ailments, Manjunath cautioned the people against high blood pressure that is diagnosed at least among 50 per cent of the people. The delay in getting treatment for hyper tension may also lead to diabetes and other health disorders. Hence it is better to avoid the consumption of salt, besides getting rid of habits like smoking and alcohol, followed by lethargy in daily life.

Dr K S Sadananda, Dr Santosh, Dr Harsha Basappa, Nursing Superintendent Harish Kumar and others were present.
