20,000 young voters yet to register themselves to vote in Mysuru!

Mysuru: The Mysuru district has 50,000 young voters but only 38,000 of them have registered so far, observed Deputy Commissioner Dr KV Rajendra. He directed the officials to encourage the remaining young voters to register themselves and help make Mysuru a model district in the State in terms of voting in the upcoming Assembly elections.
Addressing a preliminary meeting and activities of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) at the ZP auditorium, DC Dr Rajendra observed that officials must ensure to achieve more than 90 per cent of polling to make Mysuru the top polling district in the State.

Mysuru district is regarded as the place of learned and is known for art, culture and historically important places. It is necessary to make this district a model district in the upcoming polls, by achieving more than 90 per cent of voting, he observed.
He wanted the officials to identify polling booths with less voting in the previous elections and hold programmes to sensitise people on the importance of voting at these booths. Officials were directed to chalk out awareness programmes among minorities, destitutes, people with disabilities and others.
He was also of the opinion to include celebrities from Mysuru in their efforts to educate people on voting.
ZP CEO Gayatri, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kavitha Rajaram and officials from various departments were present.
