15 more Covid patients die in Chamarajanagar: Minister denies any oxygen shortage

Chamarajanagar: As 15 more Covid patients died in the last 24 hours, Primary and Secondary Education and district minister Suresh Kumar clarified that “only those in  critical condition have died, not due to oxygen shortage.”

Suresh Kumar who stayed overnight in Chamarajanagar is monitoring the whole Covid situation.

Speaking to media persons, Suresh Kumar said “there is no problem for Oxygen. We are self sufficient with 1900 litres of liquid oxygen and 122 jumbo cylinders. 150 additional medical oxygen cylinders are also arriving expected to reac today,” Suresh Kumar addeed.

As death toll in the district is rising, we have called experts team to analyze the situation. I have also talked with the health department secretary to appoint doctors and nursing staff to the district hospital, Suresh Kumar added.

Recently, 24 Covid patients died in a span of 24 hours between May 2 and 3, due to alleged disruption in oxygen supply. Among the dead, 23 had succumbed at the district hospital.
