13.54 lakh houses to get CNG connection in Mandya

Mandya: Deputy Commissioner Dr Kumara said preparations are being made to implement City Gas Distribution (CGD) network prject in Mandya district.

DC Kumara told during the preliminary meeting arranged in this connection at Mandya and said “The main idea behind the project is to supply Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) through a pipeline to domestic, commercial and industrial consumers. Project Director of District Urban Development Cell Tusharamani has been made the Nodal Officer to identify the place from where the pipeline works should start, pipeline to be laid and restoring the road after works and other works. However, it is left to the discretion of the house owners to avail CNG facility or not.”

Charan the Chief Engineer of the company implementing the pipeline project said “A door to door visit will be undertaken to the houses in the seven urban local bodies in the district to create awareness about the benefits of CNG pipeline and the differences between LPG and CNG. A total of 13,54,715 households have been identified in the district to be brought under City Gas Distribution network. The Industries in the district have been communicated about providing CNG connection. Four fuel stations in the district provide CNG facility. The project will be implemented after taking all the precautionary measures.”

Retired DySP Prabhakar Shinde, District Fire Officer Gururaj, Municipal Commissioner R Manjunath, Assistant Director of Information and Public Relations Department H S Nirmala, Assistant Director of Food and Civil Supplies Department Srinivas were present.
