10 migratory birds found dead in Lingambudhi lake

Mysuru: Ten migratory birds of different species were found dead in Lingamudhi Lake in the city on November 16.

The carcasses of the birds have been sent to Institute of Animal Health and Veterinary Biologicals ( IAHVB) at Hebbal in Bengaluru.

A team of forest personnel led by DCF Dr K C Prashanth Kumar visited the lake and collected the samples of birds.

Prashanth told Mysoorunews.com “Following the information we have started boat patrolling to look for the carcasses and habitats. The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board ( KSPCB) and Mysuru City Corporation officials have been alerted and asked to collect water samples. The forest personnel have been deoyed to monitor weak birds.

Recently pelican birds were found dead in Kukkarahalli Lake triggering concerns among bird lovers.

At far away Rajasthan, an estimated 2,000 migratory birds of different species were found dead in Sambar Lake.
