10-day old baby’s body found in water tank behind hospital mortuary

Chamarajanagar: A 10-day-old baby boy was found dead in a water tank behind the mortuary of Holy Cross hospital on Friday. The body was found in a plastic cover inside the tank.
The incident came to light after Sister Catholine the Administrative officer of Holy Cross Hospital was on her evening stroll at around 4 pm.
Following the tepid smell, Catholine along with hospital staff went near the cement water tank. When the plastic cover was checked, the baby’s body was found inside. When examined further, it came to know that the right leg was deformed.
Dr Kumar the paediatrician and Dr Deena the gynecologist of the hospital examined the body and concluded that ” it’s eight to 10-day old infant.”
It is suspected that somebody with the intention of hiding its birth may have kept the baby in cover before throwing it in water. The body was buried after autopsy.
Hanur police who have taken up the investigation are tracing the baby’s parents.
